Map arguments with your AI assistant
Paste a passage into Claude or ChatGPT and ask for a map. SwayMaps draws the argument as a map you can open, edit and comment on, and your assistant revises it from what you change and say.
1. Connect your assistant
You do this once. After that, every new chat can use SwayMaps.
Claude
- Press the button below. Sign in to Claude if it asks.
- Claude shows Add custom connector with SwayMaps filled in. Press Continue, then Add, leaving the other choices as they are.
- Press Connect. A SwayMaps page opens: press Allow.
- Claude asks before it uses SwayMaps. So that it does not ask every time, choose Always allow for both groups of tools on the page that follows, or when Claude first asks in a chat.
Works on every Claude plan, including the free one (which allows one custom connector), on the web and in the Claude desktop app. On a Team or Enterprise plan, an owner of the organization adds it first, under Organization settings, Connectors.
ChatGPT
- On the web, open chatgpt.com/plugins, press +, and choose Add custom MCP server.
- For the name, type SwayMaps. For the server address, paste:
https://maps.swaybeta.ai/mcp - Choose OAuth for authentication, tick I understand and want to continue, and create it.
- Press Connect. A SwayMaps page opens: press Allow.
ChatGPT offers custom servers on some plans only. If you do not see Add custom MCP server, your plan does not include it yet.
Other assistants
SwayMaps works with any assistant that can connect to a remote MCP server, among them Claude Code, Codex, Gemini, Le Chat, Perplexity, Cursor and VS Code. Its address is:
https://maps.swaybeta.ai/mcp2. Map an argument
- Start a new chat, paste the passage, and ask your assistant to use SwayMaps. For example:
Use SwayMaps to map the argument in this passage: - Your assistant drafts the map and gives you a link. Open it to see the map.
- Change anything directly, or select a box and press C to leave a comment for your assistant.
- Go back to the chat and say you have looked. Your assistant reads your changes and comments, answers them, and revises the map.
3. Tell us what you think
SwayMaps is new, and it is the first tool of its kind. If a map goes wrong, or goes well, please tell us. In the map, open the Feedback menu and choose Tell the SwayMaps team, or ask your assistant to send the SwayMaps team a report. Either way the map comes with it, so we can see what happened.
Each map has a private link: anyone you give the link to can open and edit that map. See Privacy for what SwayMaps keeps. SwayMaps uses the Because editor. Its server is https://maps.swaybeta.ai.
